On Saturday, May 7, 2011, a tour bus driver in Manhattan struck and killed 29 year old Philadelphian Timothy White. The bus driver, Jonathan Reiter, turned onto Ninth street where he hit White. White was dragged nearly 30 feet under the bus before another pedestrian waved down the driver.
Worse yet, the driver was drinking vodka, which he tried to hide by concealing it in a travel mug. White was transported to the hospital where he died shortly thereafter of massive injuries. Reiter’s alcohol intake was more then twice the legal limit. The family of the victim will no doubt sue the driver and the tour bus company for negligence, and they might also sue the city council for liability issues as well.
Personal injury attorneys should be contacted immediately if an individual believes he was not at fault, and in need of compensation and justice. In this case, justice and compensation should most definitely be sought. In this situation, White was killed as a result of another’s negligence, and illegal activity. A good personal injury pedestrian accident attorney will make sure the tour bus driver is held accountable for his actions while White’s family receives the compensation they deserve for their damages and losses.
