On Sunday, June 5, 2011, a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on a canyon road near Santa Clarita. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident, which was reported to officials at 2:06 a.m., occurred on Bouquet Canyon Road at Shadow Valley lane. A 20-something Canyon County man was walking southbound when he was struck by a southbound 1989 Mercedes-Benz. The driver of the vehicle, a Saugus man, reported that the vehicle was traveling at the time of the accident. According to witness reports the pedestrian was seen walking on the canyon road before the accident. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and for that reason, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz has not yet been cited or put at fault for the accident. The young pedestrian was immediately killed by the impact.
